  • Especially on weekends, people who depart from the unchanging area and go to The North Korean mountains are crowded. It's close to the city centre, so it's easy to think about, but it's a steep mountain, so be careful when climbing.

  • It took about 4 hours for me to start climbing Baiyuntai from the entrance to North Hanshan National Park. The mountain is steep, it is best to prepare professional climbing equipment, especially hiking shoes. There are specialty stores with outdoor products under the mountain. It's best to prepare some food and a bottle of water before going up the mountain, which can replenish your strength in the middle of the mountain. It's better to go up the mountain early in autumn sunset. The top of the mountain is windy and you have to bring a thicker dress.

  • Beautiful park shockingly close to downtown Seoul. Hiking ranges from gentle to fairly extreme with ropes and cables provided to pull yourself up and make descent manageable. The views are surprisingly beautiful for a park so close to the city. We saw only 6 or so people on a 3 hr hike once we left the lower, less steep part of the trail. There are walls, temples and pavilions scattered throughout the park and the ones we visited were beautifully decorated and in good repair. Wear good hiking shoes and bring plenty of water, this is a "real" hike.
  • Koreans like to hike. They spend their weekend exploring different routes. Come prepared. As some of the routes can be very challenging and will take more than 6 hours to complete. Start your hike earlier and pick the route from the starting point.
