A large coastal city, Gangneung has been historically separated from much of the country because of the long, stretching mountain range that runs parallel to the sea.
Kids will appreciate attractions like Charmsori Gramophone & Edison Science Museum and Seorak Waterpia. Get out of town with these interesting Gangneung side-trips: Sokcho (Seoraksan National Park & Cheoksan Foot Spa Park) and Woljeongsa (in Pyeongchang-gun). There's much more to do: enjoy the sand and surf at Jeongdongjin Beach, stroll through Gyeongpo Beach, and don't miss a visit to Gangneung Dano Munhwagwan.

A sprawling metropolis and center for research, Daejeon stands as the fifth largest city in South Korea.
Kids will enjoy Currency Museum and Daejeon Observatory.
